This self referential image combines elements of my past and present : in the guise of these classic Adidas ZX torsion. I love the retro futuristic look of these trainers – the 80s aesthetic and colours resonate with me. I remember having these trainers when I was a kid – so much nostalgia wrapped in my own aesthetic appreciation of this period – to cartoons I watched as a child and my obsession with grids and futuristic concepts.
The brushes symbolise my life as an Artist and the series of three books represent elements related to my practice – one being after modern art 1945 – 2000 – the book is a compendium of Art work produced in this time frame – outlying Art movements theories and departure from the post-modernity.Post modern concepts and living within this philosophical period have greatly influenced my practice.
The second book is by philosopher Roberto Manzocco Transhumanism engineering the human condition – I have had the pleasure of joining him on a panel at the Posthuman forum in New York University – back in 2015 and we have kept in contact ever since – his book is incredible read it – the final third book is an Artist book on anatomy and my fascination of manipulating my notions of the flesh with the mediated body through drawn revelations of the technological self.
Thirdly the Russian Matryoshka dolls is another important part in my work they link to my Continuous line technique that construct my Cyborgs – the dolls symbolically represent generations of life – they unfold into a line similar to DNA structures – I call them the Cyborg Genealogy….
